Zoë Kravitz’s next movie is coming to the Village. ‘Die Alive,’ a comedy from ‘My Old Ass’ writer-director Megan Park, is scheduled to film on a couple of neighborhood streets tomorrow.
Signs posted in the area, flagged to @OLV on X, say the production will be working on and near Waverly Place and MacDougal Street on Tuesday, October 27. The shoot is going by the name Hot Smirk, which matches a Production List entry for a SAG-AFTRA feature scheduled to film in Manhattan this month.
Apple Original Films landed the movie earlier this year after a bidding war that also drew Warner Bros., Sony, Universal, Amazon and Netflix, Hollywood Reporter reported. Sources told the trade that the story follows a woman who finds out her much older boyfriend has a wife and kids when they show up at her door. Even though she and the wife are at odds, she ends up taking care of the children.
Park told Deadline the team is pitching the film as Stepmom meets Big Daddy, adding that Kravitz “gets to be really funny in it.” Park wrote the script and is directing, and Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap is producing with Apple Studios in association with FilmNation.
Kravitz signed on in June, and Adèle Exarchopoulos, the French star of ‘Blue Is the Warmest Color,’ joined her in a lead role in August. Jamie Dornan was added to the cast later that month, Deadline reported.
The production has already been shooting around the city. Page Six shared photos of Kravitz on set on October 14, and Splash News posted pictures of her with Riley Keough on set the same day.
Apple hasn’t announced a release date, and the trades have so far referred to the movie as untitled.
