Posh Pop Bakeshop, a bakery where everything on the menu is gluten-free, opens its new shop in the Village today.
The bakery’s new location is at 154 Bleecker Street, and Posh Pop announced the Sept. 30 opening on Instagram.
It’s a return to Bleecker Street for Posh Pop, whose previous shop at 192 Bleecker Street closed in January. The bakery moved into that space in 2019, and amNY reported that its window was lined with rows of oversized cookies and the smell of baking drifted out onto the stretch of Bleecker between MacDougal Street and Sixth Avenue.
The business started in Red Bank, New Jersey in 2011, and its mission is to make baked goods that are safe for people with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities or allergies. On its website, the bakery says it sees gluten-free as a lifestyle rather than a diet, and it aims to make treats that taste like the real thing.
Posh Pop’s Upper West Side shop is at 483 Columbus Avenue, which I Love the Upper West Side covered ahead of its opening. Its Times Square location is at 315 West 39th Street.
The lineup spans cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, bars and cake pops. Standouts include a Samoa cookie box, salted caramel bars, s’mores brownies and a funfetti cake made with real butter and folded with sprinkles. Cookie boxes start at $39, and whole funfetti cakes start at $125.
Cakes are the bakery’s specialty, and they’re finished with buttercream, cream cheese frosting or marshmallow meringue. Sizes range from a 6-inch cake that feeds two to four people up to a 12-inch cake that feeds 40 to 50.
Posh Pop also bakes cinnamon rolls, soft pretzels, donuts, cookies and cakes fresh every day, and its menu changes monthly with seasonal flavors and limited-time treats.
While the facility is entirely gluten-free, it isn’t free of every allergen. Some products contain eggs, dairy and nuts, as Hoboken Girl noted, and Posh Pop’s website includes an allergen and cross-contact policy.
Beyond its storefronts, Posh Pop offers in-store pickup and local delivery, ships nationwide to select states, and takes custom cake and wholesale orders. Its website also has a page for franchise inquiries.
