A gelato name with more than 200 shops to its credit — the vast majority of them an ocean away in Brazil — will be planting its flag in the West Village.
That operation is Bacio di Latte, which is preparing to open its debut New York City location at 287 Bleecker Street, per signage shared by Instagram account @newopeningsnyc. It will be the chain’s first shop anywhere on the East Coast.
For all the Italian styling of the name and the recipes, the company’s roots are Brazilian. Bacio di Latte was founded in São Paulo in 2011 by brothers Edoardo and Luigi Tonolli, who trained in traditional Italian gelato-making, and it has since expanded to more than 190 gelaterias across Brazil, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press. Its U.S. push has so far concentrated in California, where a 2025 expansion carried its Southern California count to roughly 17 stores. Bleecker Street marks the leap to the opposite coast.
Bacio di Latte built its reputation on gelato churned in-house daily. Its U.S. menu spans classics like sweet cream, pistachio, cookies and cream, stracciatella, Belgian chocolate, tiramisù and strawberry cheesecake, plus fruit sorbets and vegan options — though the company notes flavors are subject to availability and vary by store.
The chain also runs an affogato bar, pairing a scoop with a shot of espresso, and a rotating menu of house-made cookies.

The previous tenant at 287 Bleecker Street was Brompton Junction, a bike shop.
